LIBERTY, Mo. - The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. Chandler Ashby and
Alex Epp have each been selected to the All-Midwest Region Second Team.
For Epp, the senior shortstop earns his second consecutive honor from the ABCA after leading the team in average, hits, doubles and RBI. Ashby, a redshirt sophomore transfer picks up his first career regional award after going 10-1 to set the NCAA era single season wins record while striking out 85 batters. The Cardinal duo are two of 16 Great Lakes Valley Conference players to make the list.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level.
