MARSHALL, Minn. - The 2023 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America baseball teams have been announced and include among them William Jewell shortstop Alex Epp who was named All-America Second Team. A total of 48 student-athletes were named to either the first, second or third team All-America squad while 16 were named honorable mention.
The CCA All-America and All-Region baseball teams, which are selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) from schools playing Division II baseball, were first established in 2007. This is the eighth year in which the program is solely sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.
Epp becomes the 25th All-American in program history, and the 38th overall honor, including the first second teamer in the NCAA era. The senior hit .435 to break his own single season record while recording 80 hits, second in the NCAA only to his 81 last season. He led the team with 16 doubles, eight home runs and 49 RBI. He also broke the single season record with 48 walks while having 21 multi-hit games including going 5-for-5 against No. 19 Illinois Springfield in the opening game of the GLVC Tournament. He has also been named First Team All-GLVC, D2CCA All-Region, Second Team ABCA All-Region and Second Team NCBWA All-Region this spring and plans to return for his final season in 2024.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
