Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell baseball team won their first game Saturday afternoon but lost their next in a doubleheader with Missouri S&T. The afternoon moves William Jewell to 12-9, 5-6.
 

Game 1 (Jewell 8, S&T 6)
HOW IT HAPPENED

• For the second game in a row the Cardinals plated three runs in the top of the first inning. On Saturday Cole Conner began the scoring with an RBI single to right, followed by an RBI single to left from Dawson Tweet. A bases loaded walk scored the third run to put Jewell up early.
• Jewell extended the lead to five in the second inning with Conner's second RBI single of the day, one of two runs scored in the frame.
• Scoring from both sides created a 7-4 game for Jewell, when Conner hit his third RBI single of the afternoon to increase the lead. Missouri S&T would plate three in the bottom of the seventh but would fall short, 8-6.

KEY STATS

• Breven Yarbro notched his fourth win of the season and his second complete game. His eleven strikeouts are the most for any Cardinal pitcher this a single appearance this year.
• Cole Conner had a team high three hits and three RBIs.

 
Game 2 (Jewell 0, Missouri S&T 3)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After two hits in the first inning, Jewell was held hitless until a Ben Click single with one out in the top of the fifth inning. The Cardinals would advance Click to third but would fail to get him home to remain tied 0-0.
• The only scoring of the game took place in the bottom of the inning, with the Miners plating three runs.
• Jewell would not have any more baserunners during the game as S&T would get the 3-0 victory.

KEY STATS

• The Cardinals only mustered four hits, two in each the first and fifth innings.
• Charlie Rambo would pitch all six innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out a season-high seven batters.
