Box Score 1 | Box Score 2  ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Jewell baseball was within one run in each of their games against UMSL on Saturday afternoon but would lose 5-4 and 2-1 on Triton walk-offs to fall to 16-14 on the season and to 8-11 in conference action.
 

Game 1 (Jewell 3, Quincy 7)
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Down by three in the sixth, a sac fly off the bat of Dawson Tweet scored Jake Wilcox to cut the Triton lead to two.
• After a bases-loaded walk later in the inning, an error when Camden Dayton was at the plate score pinch-runner Kyle Fitzgerald to tie it at three runs each.
• After a run in the bottom of the sixth, an Alex Epp home run tied it again, this time at four runs apiece.
• A single in the bottom of the seventh would give UMSL the walk-off win, 5-4.

KEY STATS

• Wilcox would be the only Cardinal with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 and one run.
• Jacob Sullivan received the loss in relief to fall to 3-2 on the year.

 
Game 2 (Jewell 1, Quincy 2)
HOW IT HAPPENED
 

• Three batters into the night-cap, Evan Jilbert singled to center field, scoring Epp who reached one batter prior on a single, putting Jewell up 1-0.
• Teams would make it to the sixth inning before scoring again, a dropped sac fly by UMSL would tie it at one each.
• After a one, two, three inning in the ninth, Jewell would give up a RBI single to the same UMSL batter from game one to give the Tritons the 2-1 win.

KEY STATS

• Jewell only tallied four hits in game two, while only striking out three times and drawing one walk at the plate.
• Brody Grawe got the loss, his second on the year, while the Jewell defense did turn a season-high three double plays.
