ST. LOUIS - Three days after being named to the NWBCA Midwest Region First Team, Redshirt Senior
Jordan Phillips was selected to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Team on Monday morning as a Non-Pitcher Utility Player. The GLVC had 13 athletes named to the All-Midwest Region teams, with seven being tabbed to the First Team.
Phillips hit a team high .361 on the season, where he was top ten in the GLVC with 66 hits, including being tied for the second most doubles (20). Phillips was tied for the most home runs on the team with eight, while going 18-for-19 in stolen base attempts.
While he primarily played third base and right field for the Cardinals this year the Deer Park, Texas native also made two appearances on the mound, including one start, where he struck-out three batters and had a combined ERA of 4.50.
By being named to the first-team, Phillips will automatically be placed on the national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America teams are scheduled to be released on Wednesday, May 28. The complete D2CCA All-Midwest Region teams can be found on the following page.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
