WJC (1954-58): Bob was a three-year letter winner in football and was named as a third team 1957 NAIA All-American at halfback. Bob was the first William Jewell student-athlete to be named to any NAIA All-American team. He also was a member of Aeons (senior men’s honorary), a member of Pi Gamma MU, J Club (secretary) and Sons of Rest. Hawkins graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Since graduating from WJC Bob worked with Equitable Life Insurance Company. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the School of Arts & Sciences at New York University. He then became a Professor and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business at NYU. Bob held the title of Dean at two different institutions. He first became Dean of the School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. He was then named Dean of the Ivan Allen College School of Management, Georgia Tech University, Atlanta, Ga., where he retired in 2003.
Bob is married to Estelle and they have two sons, Paul and Kenneth, along with three grandchildren.
