Hall of Fame
Bobby is a native of Danville, Ill., where he played football for Norris Patterson and Jim Nelson. When Coaches Patterson and Nelson moved from Danville to William Jewell, Bobby was recruited to join them and was a member of the 1950 Hall of Fame Football Team. The first time this 5’8”, 138 pounder touched the ball for the Cardinals, he ran a kickoff back 82-yards for a touchdown vs. St. Benedict’s. He scored three touchdowns in his 2nd game and as a freshman and averaged over 10 yards per carry which was the beginning of an outstanding career for the Cardinals. He was a four year letter winner in football and in track and was a 2-time MCAU All-Conference selection in football and placed in the 100 and 220 at the conference track meet all four years including several titles. He also qualified for and participated in the NAIA National Track Meet as a senior. His coaches at Jewell were Norris Patterson and Jim Nelson, both Hall of Fame Honorees.
