As a standout athlete at Jewell, Brook participated in basketball and was named team MVP twice, first team All-Conference twice, second team NAIA II All-American as a junior and a first team All-American as a senior. He was also named to the NAIA II National Tournament All-Star Team twice and named the NAIA II National Player of the Year as a senior. When basketball season was over, Brook turned his attention to track, where he is a school record holder in both the high jump and long jump (indoor and outdoor). He set personal bests of 6’10” in the high jump and 24’ 8 ¼” in the long jump. While at Jewell, Brook also excelled in the classroom. He was on the Dean’s List six times, was named HAAC Scholar-Athlete all four years, NAIA Academic All-American four times– twice in basketball and twice in track. Brook was the only athlete (male or female) in the history of WJC to have his jersey retired, and was named to Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. He was selected as the college’s male Athlete of the Year twice (the first time that had ever happened). Brook graduated with a degree in mathematics.

After graduation, Brook played one year of professional basketball in Australia. He then returned to the states and taught two years at Notre Dame DeSion in Kansas City, Mo., where he was head track coach and assistant basketball coach. He also taught at Oak Park High School, in Kansas City, Mo., and was head boy’s track coach and assistant boy’s basketball coach. Brook received his master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Montana, where he received the Graduate Student Distinguished Teaching Award. From there he went to Northern Arizona University to teach and then to Colorado State University, where he is completing work on his doctorate in statistics. He is currently teaching at Casper College in Wyoming. He is married to Maya, whom he met in Australia.
